Winners of the London Marathon!

Oh OK. so we didn't exactly win it, but after discovering that Paula wasn't competing, it took all the competitive fun away so we ditched the 4-minute mile strategy for something more like an 11 minute mile. (and then some!). Infact, given we depart for Greenland in less than 3 days, our only real strategy was to cross the finishing line in one piece without doing ourselves an injury, which I am happy to say we did!

The Pink Lady apple costumes certainly attracted attention and the support we received was fantastic! As well as the usual "go the Pink Ladies" and "come on you apples", there was the inevitable "what a juicy pair!" and "core. you look tasty!".. as well as hollerings from the confused.. "Come on you.errr.. giant pink things" and anything along the line of "keep running you turnips/ berries / beetroot / pumpkins" to which we continually hollered "we're apples!!" There were also faint mumblings heard from small scared children muttering "mummy. what are those big pink people?" But on the whole, the Pink Ladies bobbed along to many a cheer and it was an absolutely fantastic day. In the end we bobbed across the line in 5hours 32 minutes, after being pipped at the post by a rhino who pulled off a sprint finish, but narrowly managing to stay ahead of the banana.
