MET office trials
As part of our training week down in Devon/Dartmoor, we decided to trial all our comms with the MET office as they will be when out on the ice. During the expedition, we will be phoning the MET office at midnight every night (when we finish skiing!), which translates to 2am GMT (what the MET office work on) and 3am BST (what the rest of you UK people are working to!) Although important to stick to the procedure as it will be when out on the ice, these timings clearly weren't ideal when camping in Devon (!) as it meant that muggins here had to haul myself out of my toasty warm sleeping bag every morning at 3am to stand outside in my thermals, clutching a giant sat phone, compass and guess-timating the wind speed/direction/cloud cover in the pitch black! Still, all went to plan and we are now even more excited about the MET office's involvement in the expedition! Can't wait to speak to you all again! Thanks x
