Quantocks Training
Over the last few months the Foxes have been steadily cranking up their training regime under the watchful (if slightly sadistic) eye of Dr Justin Roberts. Five days a week we spend at least two hours in the gym but whenever we can, we take the training outdoors. Last week we travelled to Exeter for a meeting with the Met Office and took the opportunity to combine our endurance training with a tramp through the rolling hills of the South West. Starting in Nether Stowey near Bridgewater Jo, Rachel and Felicity set off across the Quantocks for a two-day walk to Porlock on the North Somerset Coast. Blue skies and bright sunshine kept off the March chill and the veiws from the tops of the hills were magnificent, stretching right across the Bristol Channel to the snow-topped mountains of Wales. We got so carried away enjoying the veiw that Saturday ended in a very dark and slightly muddled scramble across black fields to our camp for the night. With a train to catch on Sunday evening we couldn't afford to be so casual on our second day and romped with determination across the Brandon Hill |
