Kiting Success

The British weather did its best to thwart the Foxy kiting weekend threating rain and gale force winds.

Nevertheless on the Saturday 12 fabulous ladies joined us on Whitstable beach and despite a bit of drizzle, in no time at all they were getting to grips with a 2.5m Bullet and a 2.5m Sting, two of Flexifoils smallest traction kites that are great to learn on but still supply plenty of thrills.

We also had a Punk Buzz and Big Buzz on the beach. These aren't traction kites but are great fun and good practice for steering and control - best of all Flexifoil donates 10 to Cancer UK for each one sold.
We had a gentle breeze for most of the day which was just enough to give a feel for the sport although Jo and Felicity from the Foxes had to do a lot of running around the beach launching reluctant kites.

On Sunday the wind and rain stopped literally minutes before our first session but the afternoon proved to be the best of the weekend with plenty of wind and lots of sunshine. Everyone tackled the kites enthusiasticaly feeling confident enough by the end of the day to actively seek out some airtime.

Getting plenty of airtime out on the water were the Turbulence Angels - a professional girls' kite-surfing team who had come all the way from North Wales to support the event. It was fantastic to watch them do their stuff.

Andrew Fischer from Transition Kites, a Whitstable-based kite school, gave the instruction for each session and we'd like to say a special thank-you to him for giving up his weekend to introduce more people to his sport and raising 300 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer in the process.

Thank-you Andy!
